Mayank and Sejal Gala began the foundation in 2009 after losing their sweet boy, Ishan, to a 9 month battle against Neuroblastoma, a particularly devastating type of children’s cancer. For the past 8 years IGF has focused on research to find less toxic treatments for Neuroblastoma and providing financial assistance to families with children fighting ANY type of cancer. They recently felt a calling to move the organization to a more personal level with the families we serve.

At our most recent board meeting we had a long, thoughtful discussion about IGF and this new calling from our founders. The board of directors and the operations director are very excited for this new shift. We want to be the positive light during a very dark and long journey. We want to be the hand that local families hold when times get tough, the call parents make when they just need an ear, and the shoulder to cry on when things get worse. We want to give families the opportunity to forget for a few hours about the hell they are facing; allow a child fighting for their life to simply be a kid for a little while; and let the siblings know that we are here for them too.

Our new mission is to provide comfort and support to families with children fighting cancer through outreach programs, care packages, and financial support. This new mission however does not change our main goal to change the future for children with cancer. We know that we can do it. We know that we can give kids the future they deserve, the memories every parent deserves, and the bond every brother or sister deserves.
