About Splash For a Cure & 5K

Splash For A Cure has been in existence since 2009 and is recognized by the community as a signature end of the summer party.

In 2015, a family friendly 5K walk/run was added to the pool party. The 5K grew from just 34 runners the 1st year to 185 runners the 3rd year…and we expect this 4th year to be even bigger!

What’s in it for you?

The Splash For A Cure event is circulated among 50,000 ACAC members and 3,000 supporters through social media, newsletters, and blogs. The event is also promoted by Charlottesville Family Magazine, local radio and tv stations, and through the Charlottesville Chamber of Commerce.

Sponsors receive marketing starting in June and continuing through the first 2 weeks of September. Through out the Summer we host several promotional events by partnering with local businesses and sponsors. On the day of the event, sponsors can expect to reach over 500 people.

Crutchfield is a proud supporter of Ishan Gala Foundation because health and wellness are important to us as a company, and to Bill Crutchfield personally. While we support many organizations that are working towards better treatments and hopefully a cure for cancer, as well as other important health objectives such as fitness and heart health, we especially like the approach of Ishan Gala towards finding less toxic treatments for children with cancer. Obviously, it would be better if all cancer could be treated with less toxic chemicals, but this is especially important for children, because they can have long and happy lives ahead of them if their cancer is treated successfully, and the use of toxic substances could cause other health problems for these children down the road. We also like it that Ishan Gala supports our local UVA Children’s Hospital, so the funds raised stay in our local Charlottesville community. And it’s just a fun community event. It’s really a great way to bring people together to raise awareness for pediatric neuroblastoma and have a great time getting some exercise with the 5k event and of course splashing around in the pool!
